Itinerary

B = Breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu.

Reach Kathmandu before 12noon. Transfer to a 3-star hotel in Thamel, which is in the heart of the city. Pre-departure briefing and introduction will be held in the evening. Overnight in Kathmandu. (Meals not included)

Day 02: Kathmandu – Ramechhaap – Lukla (9383 ft.) – Phakding (8560 ft.) [Drive: 145 km, 4 hours | Flight to Lukla: 25min | Trek to Phakding: 9 km, 4 hours]
Start early morning at 2am for Ramechhaap (4 hours). Board our flight to Lukla from Manthali Airport. On the flight we watch the rugged foothills give way to the snowline of the Himalaya; many of the world’s highest mountains, including Kanchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu (the world’s 3rd, 4th, and 5th highest respectively) may be visible, if the weather is clear. Once we are in Lukla surprisingly this high-altitude trek begins by descending to the river at Phakding. Post breakfast, start your trek to Phakding. Overnight in Phakding. (B, L, D)

Day 03: Phakding – Namche Bazaar (11,300 ft.) [10 km – 7 hours]
The first day may have been surprisingly long for some, but stay at Phakding allows us to begin the ascent to Namche Bazaar first thing in the morning. At about half-way up the hill, a gap in the trees allow us to spy on Everest for the first time. If the weather is clear the top of the South-West face will be just visible behind the long Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. A plume can often be seen stretching away from the very summit.
Namche is the most prosperous and the largest town in the Khumbu region. A bazaar is held here every Saturday. The wares on display include meat, grains and vegetables, tennis shoes and trinkets as well as hand woven aprons and Tibetan boots. The Sherpas play host to trader from the foothills, as well as Tibetans from over the border. Thamserku (6648m), Kwangde Ri (6187m) and Khumbila (5707m) surround the natural bowl that Namche sits in. Overnight at Namche Bazaar. (B, L, D)

Day 04: Namche Bazaar – Acclimatisation Day
Today is rest day for us. We will use this day to get acclimatized at higher altitude. Post breakfast, we visit Tenzing Norgay Statute. From here we get a glimpse of some of the tallest peaks of the world, including Mt. Everest (if weather permits). The museum here provides a good insight into life in the Khumbu region. After that we will hike up to the Everest View Point Hotel situated at 13000 ft. After spending some time at the top, we descend back to our hotel in Namche. Overnight in Namche. (B, L, D)

Day 05: Namche Bazaar – Tengboche/Debuche (12,660/12,530 ft.) [8 km – 6 hours]
From Namche we trek to Khumjung at the foot of sacred Khumbila peak (5,761m). Khumjung Gompa possesses what is said to be the skull of a yeti! Continue to Phunki and Tengboche monastery for one of the most magnificent views in the world; an awe-inspiring panorama of Himalayan giants: Kwangde, Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Kategna and Thamserku. Overnight in Tengboche. We might walk for another 15 min to Debuche instead depending upon our teahouse booking. (B, L, D)

Day 06: Tengboche/Debuche – Dingboche (14,470 ft.) [9 km – 7 hours]
Post breakfast, begin your trek towards Dingboche. Cross the Imja Khola and continue walking through terraced fields and rolling pastures where yaks graze. A shot tea halt here and we continue ahead towards Dingboche. We will take a lunch break at a place called Somare. From here we will above the tree line and enter the barren landscape. Dingboche is above 14000 ft. which is a milestone in itself. Overnight at Dingboche. (B, L, D)

Day 07: Dingboche – Acclimatisation Day

Rather than just sitting around at the tea house, we encourage you to hike to Nangkartshang Peak. This 2-3 hour of hiking will open up new views of new faces of Lhotse, Ama Dablam / Cho Oyu and the distant Mt. Makalu. Return to tea house by afternoon. Overnight at Dingboche. (B, L, D)

Day 08: Dingboche – Lobuche (16,200 ft.) [7 km – 6 hours]
Today we are going to achieve another milestone of 16000 ft. today’s hikes is smaller but the altitude is a major factor today. The trail climbs through a grass carpeted valley to Khumbu Glacier and reaches Thukla. Have lunch and and climb the Thukla pass. Spend some time at the Everest Memorial here and then proceed to Lobuche. Overnight at Lobuche. (B, L, D)

Day 09: Lobuche – Gorakshep (16,900 ft.)- Everest Base Camp (17,600 ft.) – Gorakshep [12 km- 10 hrs]
Today’s trek is a unique experience – crossing a lot of loose rock and glacier moraine. We check into our hotel at Gorakshep and after a quick lunch, we head off to our target- Everest Base Camp. A challenging trek through boulders takes us to the hallowed EBC. After spending half an hour here, we head back to Gorakshep. (B, L, D)

Day 10: Gorakshep – Pheriche (14,340 ft.) with Kala Patthar (18,500 ft.) [15 km – 9 hrs]

Those who are willing, hike up to Kala Patthar. Early morning start for them. It is a steep hike but well worth it. Kala Patthar is the only point from where one can see the sun rising over Mt. Everest. Those too tired can wake up a bit later. Walk down to Pheriche, a beautiful village nestled between mountains. (B, L, D)

Day 11: Pheriche – Namche (3445m) [15 km – 9 hours]
