Dodital Trek

About

Dodital is a freshwater lake in Uttarkashi district, situated at a height of 3,024 metres (9,921 ft). River Assi Ganga originates from Dodital and joins Bhagirathi. According to one of the popular legends Lord Ganesha chose this place as his abode. There is a temple devoted to Lord Ganesha here. Another name for this lake is ‘Dhundital’ meaning Ganesh ka tal or lake of Ganesha. From Dodital the visitors can trek further up to Darwa Top to experience snow. The Lake attracts trekking and nature loving communities every year.

Itinerary

Day 01: Dehradun – Agoda – Bhebra via Uttarkashi (Drive – 190km, Trek – 2km) (7-8hrs drive, 1.5hrs trek).

Pick up from Dehardun Railway station/ bus stand. We begin our journey early in the morning. Enjoy a scenic drive and cross Uttarkashi to reach Agoda village by Tempo Traveler. Deboard and hoist your sacks and start a short 2km trek to Bhebra. Overnight at Bhebra in tents.

Day 02: Bhebra – Manjhi Forest Camp (7 km) (5-6 hrs)

Post breakfast start trek to Manjhi. Start climbing the ridge which is towards the left of Bhebra village.  Today’s trek is a mixture of steep climbs and flat walks. After about an hour and a half of trek, you will reach a rain shelter from where you can see Dayara Meadows. Reach Manjhi which is 5km from here

Day 03: Manjhi – Dodital 

Today is the easiest yet most beautiful patch of our trek. It is 5 km of very gradual ascent through lush green Rhododendron forests. The best day for bird watching. You will reach Dodital after 4-5 hrs of easy trek. We will camp on the banks of Dodital and enjoy the serenity of the lake.

Day 04: Dodital – Darawa top – Dodital (5km) (3/4hrs)

Today is a free day at Dodital. You can either enjoy serene Dodital or go for a trek to Darawa Top.  Darwa Top is a climb of 2,500 ft and can be done in 3/4 hours. Enjoy a fantastic view of snow peaks and return to Dodital.

Day 05: Dodital – Bhebra (12 kms) (5/6hrs)

Today we start the return journey of our trek. Post sumptuous breakfast start trek towards Bhebra village. We skip Manjhi campsite and go straight to Bhebra today. Enjoy descent through the forest full of Rhododendrons.

Day 06: Bhebra – Agoda – Dehradun (2km Trek + 190km drive) (9hrs)

Today is the last leg of our trek. Post breakfast start trekking towards Agoda. Board our vehicle and proceed to Uttarkashi. Have lunch and proceed to Dehradun. Trek ends
